OUR BEGINNINGS IN 1980 AOT, Inc. was established as a private occupational therapy practice in December 1980 by Cynthia Thomas, Hanna Gruen and Carol King-Etzel. Their vision was to begin an independent practice dedicated to providing high-quality, personalized services on a contractual basis. Incorporated as Associated Occupational Therapists, it was a home-based business, located in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. It employed a small group of top-notch occupational therapists who provided contracted occupational therapy services in Pittsburgh’s acute care and long term care facilities. AOT, INC. TODAY Now, as it begins its fourth decade of successful operation, AOT has grown to be a leading provider of not only occupational therapy, but also physical therapy services, throughout Western Pennsylvania. Cynthia Thomas is now the sole owner, president and CEO. Our corporate office is located in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. From this office location, we manage a service area that encompasses seven counties. Currently, the primary focus of our services is pediatrics, with home care and outpatient services falling in second and third places, respectively. We also provide temporary services to health care facilities and consulting services to third party payers and businesses. One of our foremost founding principles — our high standards for hiring — has ensured that our therapists are among the best in their professions. Our staff has expanded to include 100+ licensed occupational and physical therapy professionals and an administrative staff of fifteen. We have developed quality and competency standards and a management structure that provides close clinical supervision to ensure that our therapists meet or exceed our client’s expectations.
