Earth Week in Schools: How AOT and Austill’s School-Based Therapists Promoted Sustainability and Wellness

At AOT, Inc., our team of school-based occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists spent Earth Week giving back to both our school communities and the environment through a fun and meaningful “Therapist for the Planet” challenge!

As a provider of educational therapy and related services in schools, we know that supporting student success also means promoting healthy, sustainable environments where students and clinicians can thrive. Throughout Earth Week, our school-based therapists participated in daily wellness and sustainability challenges focused on mindfulness, environmental awareness, teamwork, and self-care.

Each day featured a unique mission that encouraged therapists to make small but impactful choices during the school day and beyond. From reducing paper waste in therapy sessions to cleaning up local neighborhoods and taking mindful outdoor movement breaks between sessions, our clinicians embraced the opportunity to combine environmental responsibility with therapist wellness.

Our Earth Week activities included:

  • Using reusable water bottles and coffee cups during school-based therapy sessions
  • Reducing paper use in occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy documentation and materials
  • Organizing and decluttering therapy spaces in schools
  • Participating in community clean-up efforts
  • Taking mindful walks and practicing self-regulation outdoors
  • Encouraging collaboration and positivity among school-based therapy teams

We were inspired by the creativity and enthusiasm shown by our therapists across the week. These activities reflected the same compassion, dedication, and leadership our clinicians bring to students every day through school-based OT, PT, and SLP services!

We are also excited to recognize our Earth Week Sustainability Superstars:

  • PT Debra
  • DPT Julie
  • OT Elizabeth
  • PT Denise

Thank you for helping make this initiative such a success and for representing the positive impact clinicians can make both inside and outside the classroom.

At AOT, Inc., we are proud to support school districts, students, and families through high-quality educational therapy services. Our therapists work every day to help students build independence, communication, mobility, self-regulation, and confidence in educational settings throughout the school year.
